Returning to research: Planning for Phase 1

New information for the research community

As McMaster continues to implement our phased increase of research activity, planning documents, guidelines, FAQs and checklists are available on the research website, with specific information on entering Phase 1 for increased On-Campus and Fieldwork research activity.

Given the dynamic situation, please check back to the site and the FAQs often, as they’ll continue to be updated.

Everyone is invited to participate in one of two online town halls to share information and answer questions about McMaster’s phased return to on-campus and fieldwork research.

Acting vice-president, Research Karen Mossman will be joined by Wanda McKenna, AVP/chief human resources officer, and Debbie Martin, AVP/chief facilities officer.

Keeping your computer and McMaster networks safe

It’s never been more important to be cautious of phishing and other tactics to hack into computer systems. The federal government is warning of increased threats and attempts to access research and other activities at universities across the country, including but not limited to COVID-19 research.

For tips on how to keep your systems safe and to protect university networks please review information available on the UTS website.

New government advice on wearing masks

Canada’s chief public health officer is officially recommending Canadians wear non-medical face masks when maintaining a consistent two-metre physical distance isn’t possible. The province of Ontario is making the same recommendation and reminding everyone that hand washing and physical distancing are the most effective ways to limit the spread of COVID-19.
